RioChain — Made for Hyper-casual

We have talked about RioDeFi and their Polkadot-compatible parachain since December. Our partnership with them was the first partnership we announced, and as we discussed in the article on the history of KQJ last week, RioDeFi is more than a partner. We are all part of the same ecosystem and family of companies. We began our life in the RioDeFi office until we secured offices of our own following the token pre-sale in February and March of this year.

In this article, we want to talk a little about RioChain itself and why it is an ideal platform for hyper-casual games that interface with Blockchain somehow.

What is RioChain

RioChain represents a stack of technologies and digital infrastructure built on Parity Substrate, the leading framework for developing blockchain technology, and the same technological foundation which fuels Polkadot. Put another way, RioChain is a Polkadot-compatible level 2 blockchain.

It allows users to receive, store, and send cryptocurrencies instantly and with near-zero fees in terms of functionality. It can process over 3000 transactions per second. It also has a programmable layer and can run dApps, coded in Parity’s Rust language for smart contracts. It can also execute Ethereum Solidity contracts in a wrapper, similar to how Rosetta works on the new M1 Macs running Intel applications.

RioChain’s speed and scalability are essential for any application that requires transactions to be fast, as is the case of any in-app activity in a hyper-casual game. This is an essential requirement for all of the dApps under development at Lepricon.

Interoperability

Lepricon’s focus has always been on games and providing a compelling experience for our players. Any limitation that we place on ourselves in terms of which wallets, currencies, or chains we can interconnect with simply places a hard limiting factor on our ability to grow our audience. This leads to another primary benefit of using RioChain. Its cross-chain capabilities are built-in at a foundational level. It can work with Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS and Tron, to name some of the better known examples, and can easily accept tokens from those chains through its Generic Asset Bridge (GAB).

Technology

The technology stack for RioChain boasts a wide variety of modules. These include:

• Oracles — RioDeFi integrates Chainlink’s decentralized oracle network
• Savings and Lending Services
• Oauth authentication system which enables email login to wallets

All of these technologies will play a pivotal role in Lepricon’s development path on RioChain.

The Future

Lepricon’s first game is KQJ, and this will run as a dApp in Rio DeFi’s mobile wallet. It will be the perfect showcase to demonstrate the speed and efficiency of RioChain as a platform for blockchain transactions. Other dApps will follow. dApps that are first deployed on Leprichain will generally be released for RioChain shortly thereafter.

L3P will also be implemented on RioChain as both a utility token for services and games, as well as a store of value which can be staked on RioChain’s native staking which is currently in development. Players will be able to use RFuel, RioChain’s native token, as a currency in our games when deployed on RioChain.

RioChain’s growing suite of technology solutions are ideal for a hyper-casual game company like Lepricon that needs speed, low to zero gas, and remove the complexities of wallet-usage inherent in level one chains such as Ethereum. These are the capabilities that will help us adapt the advantages of blockchain for mainstream audiences, such as gamers. This is why RioChain is part of our core delivery strategy,
