Lepricon, One Year On — Message From the CEO

Today, L3P turns one. It was on this day a year ago that we launched L3P on Uniswap. It has been quite a year.

Today is also the first day that I can publicly acknowledge something I have known for just under a week; that I would assume the privilege of leading an incredible team of people and take on the responsibility to lead this company forward.

When Lepricon was founded, we stated we believed that blockchain would revolutionise the video games industry. We passionately believed that the underlying technology of blockchain would shift games from publisher-first to player-first economies as the mainstream game industry learned to adopt blockchain as part of its development. We did not foresee how the reverse would happen in the meantime, as the blockchain industry adopted gaming as a means to sell tokens and NFTs, muddying the waters for those of us with a longer vision.

We still have that vision, one where the game comes first. It is why we do what we do, and why we are blessed with a talented and diverse team of people.

This past week, we have held several workshops where everyone in Lepricon has been able to participate equally. We have talked about our strengths and weaknesses, the work we have done to date and some of the technical accomplishments achieved. We went through a purpose exercise looking at the overlap between where we see opportunity externally, our capabilities and the passions of the team. This is directly feeding into a realignment of our efforts and will lead towards a refined and much more tightly focused road map.

We have three incredible products about to launch, all of which are in alpha right now and we cannot wait to share them with you. Beyond that we are finalising a simpler, more focused timeline that leverages what we have and heads in a clear direction that will be far easier to communicate.

Interestingly, those who remember our original white paper will note that our revised timeline is very much in line with our original plans for Lepricon as a hypercasual games platform, and the Shamrock Protocol will morph into a rewards system for frequent players.

There will also be news on a realignment of the company as we structure the business for growth. Our focus will be on revenue from our games, products and technology, the latter mostly through partnerships with game studios looking to integrate blockchain into games. We are also in discussions for a number of grants that would enable us to scale faster and add more parallel paths for development. We have no doubt that as we move through this timeline we will be able to reinvigorate our token, L3P.

Lepricon’s greatest strength is the incredibly talented and diverse team that works here. The team is Lepricon, and Lepricon is the team. Given this, another change we will make is to introduce our people to you so that you can see the passion for games and the opportunities that blockchain brings to usher in player-first game economies is prevalent across the entire company.

As I said at the beginning, we believe that blockchain can make games better through the normalisation of player-first game economies. It is because we have a why that the entire Lepricon team fervently believes we will succeed. I look forward to sharing that success with our community and making good on our original promise.

It promises to be an exciting journey.
